Add an eye-catching example from the Presidential $1 Coin Program to your collection with this 2007 George Washington Presidential $1 coin.
Released in 2007, the George Washington dollar was the first coin issued in the United States Mint’s Presidential $1 Coin Program. The obverse features a portrait of George Washington with the inscriptions “GEORGE WASHINGTON,” “1ST PRESIDENT,” and the years of his presidency, “1789–1797.” The reverse depicts the Statue of Liberty alongside the denomination “$1” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
This example features a privately applied two-tone enhanced finish. Silver-colored highlights accent Washington’s portrait, the lettering, and the Statue of Liberty against contrasting gold-colored fields. The treatment creates an attractive display piece and distinguishes it visually from a standard Presidential dollar.
The edge lettering appears to identify this coin as a 2007-P Philadelphia issue. Presidential dollars from this period carry the year, mint mark, “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” on the coin’s edge.
The coin is housed in the clear protective capsule shown in the photographs.
